Q: Who is Gray?
A: I am Gray. A teenager from the United States, who likes making music and all different sorts of art. While my real name isn't Gray, I go by Grayson May online, and will continue to use that name to maintain anonymity. If you need a name to call me, just call me Gray.
Q: How did you come up with the name "Gray"?
A: I was trying to think of a simple, unique, and memorable name to use for my YouTube channel, and my mind eventually went to the names of colors I could use, which is when I decided to name myself Gray, since I thought it was unique (I was completely wrong). When I shifted my focus to making music, I extended my short "Gray" nickname to come up with the name "Grayson May", which I use as my artist name, as well as for various professional purposes in my public life.
Fun Fact: the original way I wrote my name was "GRaY" with this weird capitalization, and it was nearly 2 years before I decided to change it (Don't ask me why I did it)!
Q: Can you reveal your face?/Q: When will you reveal your face?
A: I prefer to keep personal details (birthday, face, real name, location, etc) private, especially online. I don't plan on ever revealing my face to the public, at least not for a very long time.
Q: What inspired you to become a musician?
A: Right after getting my Nintendo Switch back in April of 2023, I finally decided to play DELTARUNE for the first time, and I immediately fell in love with it. So much so that I decided that I wanted to make my own game just like it! I won't talk much about the game, since I still might work on it in the future, but while working on the game, I wanted to create some music for it. I asked my brother (who also produces music) what DAW he used, and he introduced me to LMMS (amazing DAW for the price btw). It took some experimenting, but after watching some YouTube videos, I learned how to really produce music, and I've only been getting better since.
Q: What do you use to make music?
A: My current DAW is LMMS (as previously mentioned), and I use it primarily for producing. But I also use Ableton Lite for vocal mixing, and Audacity for general song mixing (I am really wanting to save up for FL Studio though...). I don't use much outside of simply producing on my PC. I have this cheap Sudotack mic that I got off Amazon (which I recently replaced with fifine dynamic mic!), and I have an MPK mini AKAI MIDI keyboard that I use once a while, but almost all my music is produced using a traditional keyboard and mouse.
Q: What is this website for?/Q: Why did you create this website?
A: I think having a website like this where fans can interact with me and view the projects I've made and am working on is really cool! Neocities is an awesome thing, and something that more people should experience, especially with all the problems of modern day social media. So the more I grow my audience, the more people will visit my website, and the more exposure Neocities is likely to get as a whole!
