With a solid 20 tracks, this album clocks in at just a little over an hour in length.
This was fine with me on my first time listening, as I had originally downloaded the album planning on listening to it while away on a trip with my family a few weeks back.
So, I'm not sure if it was due to the sound of our car on the road drowning out everything else, or if the mixing was truly as bad as I thought it was, but there were some songs on here that I just could not get past.
Case in point: "your eyes glitter in the foam moon", which does have very decent production in the first half, but the mixing through-out the entirety of the song is abysmal.
The high frequencies sound like they've been turned to the max, making for an unpleasent and downright painful listening experience.
The mastering isn't any better, because even with my PC's volume at 8%, it still sounds just 6 dB too loud.
And while I did mention that I enjoy the production for most of the song, the last 40 seconds are just bad, with it sounding like a poor attempt at someone trying to turn a Breakcore song into a Hardcore EDM song.
I genuinely find this song disappointing becuase the sample was great, and most of the production was good, but the last portion of it is irredeemably medicore and just bad. I can't help but skip this song whenever it comes on.
But even with the first songs failure, I do think the next makes up for it.
"SUCKERRR!! :P" by blackwinterwells / wells is an enjoyable, yet strangely forgettable track.
I think wells provides some good vocals, and the production on the track is far from terrible, but I find that I have trouble coming back to this track, possibly due to just how bland it is.
You know the term "co-worker music"? Or the genre of commercial music? That's the kind of vibe I get from this song. While many fans of Breakcore might enjoy this track, and might consider it an objectively "good" song, it's not anything to write home about.
I think if there's anything noteworthy about this song, it's that it's the least noteworthy song off of this album.
But I cannot say the same about the next track.
"her rise from the fall" is a pleasently surprising track, as even with the lack of vocals, I think the unique and mesmerizing production proves to be an effective motivater to keep you coming back.
I like the addition of the drops and stomps in the song, I think it gives this track a more anthemic sound that I enjoy. The break sample used also added a good groove to the song, making the beats hit that much harder.
I especially like the synthes that make up the main melody. The sound they provide is very spacey, and makes this track sound even larger.
But "stupid bunny on a green hill covered in blood" is another track that has me confused on how Maple could've turned a great song mid with just it's mixing and mastering.
I genuinely think that the song's production is great, and I especially love the way the break sample is chopped, and the sample used - while sound squeeky - still has a charm to it that I enjoy, benefiting the melody rather well, while also adding to the personality of the track.
But the mastering is once again so very disappointingly bad.
There's a small portion of the song that has much smoother mastering and is more pleasent on the ears, but I wish the whole song could've been like that.
